FAQ
How much quality do I actually lose?
At 192 kbps, very little that is audible on ordinary equipment — and importantly this is the first lossy pass, so the encoder has the full signal to work with. At 320 kbps most listeners cannot distinguish the result from the FLAC in a controlled test.
Which bitrate for a music library?
192 kbps is a sensible default for phones and cars. Choose 320 kbps if storage is not tight and you use good headphones. Below 128 kbps you start to hear it on cymbals and applause, where the format struggles most.
Are the tags and album art kept?
Tags carried in the FLAC are transferred unless you turn on "Remove metadata". Embedded cover art does not always survive, because the two formats store pictures differently.
Should I delete the FLAC afterwards?
No. The FLAC is the master and the MP3 is a copy for playback. Deleting the lossless original means any future conversion — to a new format, at a higher bitrate — starts from damaged audio instead of a clean one.
Can I convert a whole album at once?
Yes, up to twenty files per batch. They run one at a time on your own machine, so a full album takes a minute or two in total, with no upload and no queue.
What about 24-bit or high sample rate FLAC?
They convert, but MP3 cannot carry them as such — sample rates above 48 kHz are resampled and the extra bit depth is discarded during encoding. That is a limit of the MP3 format, not of this converter.
Is it really free?

Do I need to install anything?
