FAQ
Is a screen recording a good source for GIF?
Yes, one of the best. Flat interface colours and sharp text are what GIF handles well, so a UI recording converts cleanly and stays much smaller than camera footage of the same length.
Why is my GIF still large?
Because GIF stores frames nearly independently. Shorten the recording, drop the frame rate to 8 or 10 — which is plenty for interface work — or reduce the width.
Should I just upload the WebM instead?
If the destination accepts video, yes — it will be smaller and sharper. Convert to GIF when the destination accepts images only, which is still true of many forms and older tools.
What frame rate suits a UI demo?
8 to 12 fps. Interface motion is mostly discrete — a click, a panel opening — so a low rate looks fine and cuts the size substantially.
Is the audio kept?
No. GIF has no audio track. For a narrated demo, keep the WebM or convert it to MP4.
Is it really free?
Yes — every conversion on this site, with no account, no watermark and no daily cap. The work happens on your own device, so there is no server bill for us to pass on to you.
Do I need to install anything?
No. It runs in any modern browser, on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS. There is nothing to download and nothing to sign up for, and once the page has loaded it keeps working with the network switched off.
