FAQ
PNG or JPG for a PDF page?
PNG for text, tables, diagrams and line art, where it keeps edges exact and JPG leaves visible haze around them. JPG for pages that are mostly photographs or scans, where its compression is far more efficient and the loss is not noticeable.
Why did I get a ZIP file?
Because the PDF had more than one page. Each page becomes a separate PNG and they are packed together, numbered in order. A one-page PDF downloads as a plain .png.
Can I select the text in the PNG?
No. Rendering turns the page into pixels, so the text is no longer text. Convert to TXT or Word if you need the words — those routes read the text layer, and fall back to on-device recognition when the PDF is a scan.
Does PNG keep the transparent background?
Pages are rendered onto white rather than onto transparency, because a PDF page has no background of its own and a transparent one would appear black in many viewers. The PNG therefore has an opaque white background.
How do I get a higher resolution?
Set a maximum width in the advanced options. 2480 px is A4 at 300 DPI, the usual target for print. Leaving it at 0 renders at roughly 144 DPI, which is sized for screens.
Is the PDF uploaded anywhere?
No. It is opened and rendered by a PDF engine running inside this page, which matters here more than for most conversions — PDFs tend to be contracts, statements and scans.
Is it really free?
Yes — every conversion on this site, with no account, no watermark and no daily cap. The work happens on your own device, so there is no server bill for us to pass on to you.
Do I need to install anything?
No. It runs in any modern browser, on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS. There is nothing to download and nothing to sign up for, and once the page has loaded it keeps working with the network switched off.
